Cash stolen amid admission season from school in Kailashahar

Date:

Agartala, 7th April 2026: Kailashahar subdivision has been grappling with frequent thefts under the cover of darkness, and yet another daring incident has rattled the community. Late Monday night, burglars broke into a government school—Goladharpur Rudra Singh Higher Secondary School, under Kailashahar police station.

On Tuesday afternoon, school in-charge Raj Mohan Sutradhar reported that upon arriving at 10:15 a.m., he found the main building’s grill lock broken. Inside, the headmaster’s office door had been forced open, with cupboards and lockers smashed. The office room was similarly ransacked, with locks and storage units destroyed.

The intruders also targeted the school canteen, breaking its lock and looting cash from a locker before fleeing. Following the discovery, Sutradhar informed local village chief Biru Sinha, who rushed to the scene and later notified the media. Police arrived soon after and launched an investigation.

The 150-year-old institution is renowned for its academic achievements, making the burglary particularly shocking. “This is the first time such an incident has occurred here,” said village chief Sinha.

School sources revealed that ongoing admissions had led to significant cash being stored in lockers, as fees had not yet been deposited in the bank. While the exact amount stolen remains unclear, preliminary reports suggest no important documents were taken. However, concerns have resurfaced over the absence of a night guard and support staff, with questions raised about the effectiveness of police night patrols and overall security measures.
