Unidentified body recovered from Katakhal

Agartala, 13th April 2026:   Panic spread in the city after the body of an unidentified person was recovered from a Katakhal near Astabal Bridge in the capital today afternoon. According to local reports, residents spotted the body floating in the Kata Khal canal and immediately informed the East Agartala Police Station.

Police personnel, led by Officer-in-Charge Subrata Debnath, rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The police stated that the deceased could not be identified at the scene as the face of the body was badly damaged. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary observations suggest that the body may have been carried to the location through rainwater flow from another area via the canal. However, officials emphasized that the exact circumstances surrounding the death will only be clear after the completion of the investigation.
