Two families rendered homeless in devastating fire at Unakoti

Agartala, 21st April 2026:  A massive fire broke out in Ward No. 1 of Srinathpur village under Gournagar RD Block in Unakoti district, reducing two houses to ashes and leaving two families destitute. The incident took place this morning, sparking panic in the area.

Local sources informed that the blaze originated from an electrical short circuit at the residence of Jabbar Ali. Within moments, the flames spread to an adjoining house. The fire was so intense that both homes were completely gutted in a short span of time, destroying all furniture and essential belongings.

Residents rushed to douse the flames but were unable to bring the situation under control. By the time fire service personnel arrived, the houses had already been reduced to rubble.

Gournagar Panchayat Samiti Vice-Chairman Badruzzaman reached the spot soon after the incident and assured support for the affected families. “This tragic fire has left two families with nothing. The Panchayat will extend all possible assistance and take immediate steps to arrange housing for them,” he said.

Currently, local residents and Panchayat authorities have joined hands to rebuild homes for the victims, ensuring they receive shelter and support in the aftermath of the disaster.
