Two sand-extraction machines seized

Date:

Agartala, 22nd April 2026:  The Forest Department in Manu Bazar subdivision has seized two sand-extraction machines from the Manughat Loharbari area. Authorities alleged that operators were illegally mining sand from the river, causing severe damage to its banks and contributing to annual breaches of protective embankments.

Residents reported that the loud noise from the machines had disrupted daily life, while farmland soil was collapsing due to unchecked extraction. Officials emphasized that illegal sand mining, carried out in defiance of government restrictions, will not be tolerated.

The department confirmed that such enforcement drives will continue, with strict legal action to be taken against those involved in future violations.
