Agartala, 27th April 2026: A shocking incident has created panic in the Jayanta Koloi Para area under Teliamura Police Station, after an elderly man was found hanging from the veranda of his own house.
According to local sources, residents noticed on Sunday evening that Mahendra Debbarma was hanging by a noose in the veranda of his home. The sight immediately triggered fear and unrest among people in the locality.
The police were promptly informed, and officers from Teliamura rushed to the spot and initiated a preliminary investigation. The body was later recovered and taken to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, where it has been kept in the morgue.
Hospital authorities stated that the post-mortem examination will be conducted on Monday, after which the body will be handed over to the family.
The reason behind the suspected suicide remains unclear, leaving relatives and locals in confusion and distress. Police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
