Pradyot Calls for Youth, Health, and Education Focus in “New Tripura” Vision; TMP MDCs take oath

Date:

Agartala, 27th April 2026:  Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma said a “new Tripura and a new India” are taking shape, stressing that without prioritising youth development, health, education, and opportunities, society and the state will suffer.

He made the remarks after attending the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Members of the District Council of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). A total of 24 Tipra Motha MDCs took oath today, administered by Law Secretary Shankari Das, while four BJP MDCs reportedly boycotted the event.

Pradyot urged the need for systemic reform and a shift in mindset to ensure development and progress. He said governance should not function arbitrarily and must be more responsive and people-centric.

Emphasising his vision for a “young and new Tripura,” he said meaningful change requires not only administrative overhaul but also a change in attitude. He added that experts from diverse fields—including former civil servants, members of the judiciary, students, and contributors from arts and culture—should be involved in planning development strategies, particularly in areas like drinking water, healthcare, education, and entrepreneurship.

He also appealed to the Government of India, stating that Tripura’s overall development is not possible without strengthening the TTAADC, and urged a focused effort toward improving the lives of people in the autonomous district council areas now that the elections are over.
