Agartala, 30th April 2026: Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess and accelerate financial inclusion efforts in Tripura.
The meeting focused on improving the state’s credit-deposit ratio, scaling up financial inclusion through government-backed schemes, and strengthening the credit delivery system. Key concerns such as connectivity challenges and the need to expand the network of bank branches and ATMs across the state were also discussed in detail.
According to an update shared by MDoNER on X, the meeting held on April 28, 2026, formed part of follow-up deliberations stemming from the North East Bankers Conclave 2024. The session aimed to address persistent challenges and identify actionable strategies to deepen financial inclusion in the region.
Officials deliberated on a range of action points, including enhancing credit flow, improving banking outreach in underserved areas, resolving infrastructure bottlenecks, and boosting the effectiveness of financial inclusion initiatives.
The meeting brought together senior officials, including Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Joint Secretary Niraj Kumar (MDoNER), Manoj Muttathil Ayyappan from the Department of Financial Services, along with representatives of the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) and members of the State Level Bankers’ Committee, Tripura.
