Agartala, 2nd May 2026: Tension flared at Sabroom Higher Secondary School on Saturday morning after protests broke out over the transfer of a teacher, temporarily disrupting academic activities.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 10:00 AM when a group of students and guardians allegedly locked the school’s main gate and staged a demonstration. The protest was reportedly triggered by the recent transfer of the school’s in-charge, Pranab Das, following instructions from the Education Department. A new teacher had been appointed in his place, a decision that sparked dissatisfaction among a section of the school community.
Upon receiving information, police from Sabroom Police Station and officials from the sub-divisional administration quickly arrived at the scene. They engaged with the protesters in an effort to defuse the situation and restore normalcy.
With administrative intervention, the back gate of the school was opened, allowing teachers—and later willing students—to enter the premises. Gradually, the situation came under control, and classes resumed.
Later, the lock on the main gate was also removed, officials confirmed.
The administration stated that the transfer was carried out as per directives from the Education Department, and the concerned teacher has been instructed to join the new place of posting. Authorities also indicated that any allegations of misconduct or unlawful activity related to the incident would be investigated, and appropriate action would be taken if necessary.
