Agartala, 6th May 2026: After enduring a month of darkness, residents of Baluchhara and Matambari areas under Katalia Block finally saw electricity services restored on today. Nearly 500 families had been struggling without power, facing severe hardships in their daily lives.
Local sources reported that the area is home to tribal, Sanatani Hindu, and minority Muslim communities. With power cut off for over four weeks, residents were forced to rely on candles at night, while cooking, eating, and even charging mobile phones became difficult. Many had to travel to neighboring villages just to charge their devices.
Speaking to reporters, local resident Imran Hossain explained that the affected region comprises parts of Tholibari ADC Village and Kalikhala ADC Village, where people from three communities live together. He said the issue was brought to the attention of Dhanpur MLA Bindu Debnath, who promptly dispatched a team of electricity workers to resolve the crisis.
With the cooperation of villagers, the repair team worked tirelessly throughout Wednesday, eventually restoring electricity supply. Relief and satisfaction spread across the community as lights came back on after weeks of struggle.
Imran Hossain further alleged that negligence by certain officials often forces ordinary people to suffer unnecessarily. However, he noted that when elected representatives intervene, solutions are reached much faster. Grateful residents have extended their thanks to MLA Bindu Debnath for his swift action in resolving the crisis.
