Agartala, 6th May 2026: Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM), the main opposition in Tripura, held a state committee meeting on Friday to review its performance in the recently concluded Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections and the by-election in the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency. The party has also begun preparations for the upcoming village council elections.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Leader of the Opposition and CPIM state committee secretary Jitendra Chaudhury said the discussions focused on analyzing the election results, which have already been declared and are well known to the public.
He stated that the party routinely conducts detailed reviews of all electoral outcomes, whether positive or negative. However, he acknowledged that this time the results were not favorable for CPIM, prompting an in-depth assessment of its performance.
Chaudhury further said that the meeting also covered the party’s future political strategy, organizational strengthening, and roadmap ahead of the village committee elections, which are expected soon.
According to him, the party intends to examine the factors behind its opponents’ success and present these issues before the public. He added that preparations for the upcoming rural polls will be intensified based on today’s discussions.
He also remarked that broader political developments in other states, including Kerala and West Bengal, can have an influence on electoral trends in Tripura.
