Agartala, 24th August 2026 : Tipra Motha MLA Paul Dangshu has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the rejection of several questions submitted for parliamentary proceedings, questioning the accountability of the system in addressing issues concerning the people of Tripura.
Taking to social media, Dangshu said it was deeply concerning that important questions seeking answers and accountability on behalf of the people could be disallowed. He stressed that such issues were raised with the intention of encouraging constructive debate and bringing about positive changes in governance.
“How spineless can someone in parliamentary proceedings and departments be, disallowing important questions that are submitted, seeking answers and accountability on behalf of millions, irrespective of caste or creed?” Dangshu said.
He maintained that raising such questions should not be viewed through a political lens. “It is never about which political party runs the show. It is always about who is accountable and who must answer to the people,” he stated.
Dangshu also reflected on the responsibilities of elected representatives, saying that years later, when legislators look back on their political journey, positions and victories may not be what they remember most. Instead, they may reflect on the trust placed in them by voters and whether they adequately voiced people’s concerns and worked for change.
According to Dangshu, the following questions submitted by him were rejected: Framing of a uniform transfer policy for government employees across all departments; Resolving teacher shortages in elementary and secondary education; Details of land pattas—both agricultural and residential—provided during the last five years in each subdivision and district; and Implementation and status of the Tripartite Agreement (Tiprasa Accord 2024) signed between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura and TIPRA concerning the rights and development of the Indigenous Tiprasa.
The MLA’s remarks have brought renewed focus on the importance of legislative questions as a mechanism for seeking information, ensuring accountability and highlighting public grievances before the government.
