Date:

Agartala, 8th May 2026:   Newly elected MLA of Dharmanagar assembly constituency Jahar Chakraborty assured swift justice in the death of Rahul Kishore Roy while warning against misinformation and politically motivated attempts to malign his party.

In his first press conference after assuming office as MLA of Dharmanagar, Jahar Chakraborty addressed key concerns surrounding the recent death of Rahul Kishore Roy, assuring strict action against those found guilty.

The press meet held at the BJP district office was attended by BJP District President Kajal Das, Dharmanagar Mandal President Shyamal Nath and other party leaders.

Speaking firmly on the issue, Chakraborty stated, “Those guilty of involvement in Rahul’s death will not be spared under any circumstances.” He emphasized that the law would take its own course and assured that justice would be delivered.

The MLA also issued a stern warning against individuals falsely claiming affiliation with the BJP, alleging that some are misusing the party’s name to spread misinformation and malign its image. He described the situation as part of a politically motivated campaign aimed at discrediting both him and the party.

Reiterating his commitment to development, Chakraborty said his primary focus would be on strengthening infrastructure, improving civic amenities, and restoring public trust in Dharmanagar.

Meanwhile, party leaders informed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, has been constituted to probe the case. They expressed confidence that the accused would be brought to justice soon and urged the public to avoid spreading rumors or misinformation.
