Agartala, 15th May 2026: Sonamura police seized a large consignment of cannabis late last night following a tip-off. Acting on confidential information, a raid was conducted at a farmhouse in Ward No. 5 of Bejimara Colony, where officers recovered 35 kg and 215 grams of cannabis packed in four plastic sacks.
Two brothers, identified as Kabil Hossain (24) and Habil Miah (26), both sons of Yunus Miah and residents of Bejimara Colony, were arrested from the spot. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Sonamura Police Station.
A special police team is currently interrogating the accused, and preliminary questioning has already revealed further leads. Authorities stated that those involved in the local drug trade will be brought under the purview of law once the information is verified. Police expect more arrests in connection with the smuggling network in the coming days.
