Agartala, 16th May 2026 : In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for nationwide fuel conservation, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy has decided to reduce the use of escort vehicles and use a scooter for his daily movement.
Speaking on the decision, the minister said the initiative was taken to support efforts aimed at tackling the global fuel crisis and promoting energy conservation. He mentioned that although two escort vehicles were earlier assigned for his security, the number has now been reduced to one.
He also stated that escort vehicles will no longer be used during official duties within districts. Moreover, during tours outside the district, the use of escort vehicles will be restricted as much as possible.
The Finance Minister’s decision has been widely appreciated as a positive step towards fuel saving and environmental responsibility. Urging citizens to contribute, he called upon everyone to make fuel conservation a collective responsibility for the benefit of the nation.
