Agartala, 16th May 2026 : In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Government of Tripura has appointed IAS officer Megha Jain as the new District Magistrate and District Collector of Unakoti district.
According to an official notification issued by the state government, former Unakoti District Magistrate Tamal Majumdar has been transferred and posted as Special Secretary to the Government of Tripura in Agartala. He will independently look after the Fire and Emergency Services Department under the Home Department. In addition, he has also been given the additional responsibility of Special Secretary and Director of the Urban Development Department.
Meanwhile, Megha Jain, who was serving as Director of the Urban Development Department, has been entrusted with the charge of District Magistrate and District Collector of Unakoti district. Prior to her new assignment, she was also holding the additional responsibility of Director of the Fire and Emergency Services Department.
The reshuffle is part of the state government’s administrative reorganization aimed at strengthening governance and departmental coordination.
