Agartala, 16th May 2026 : A college student was critically injured in a horrific road accident in Belonia this morning. His condition is reported to be serious.
Police sources informed that the victim, Anik Pal, a resident of Holy Spirit area under North Bharat Chandranagar, was riding his Hyundai bike (registration number TR 07 C 6746) towards Belonia around 10:30 AM. At the same time, a goods-laden truck (registration number TR 03 J 1742) was heading from Belonia towards Barpathari. Near the northern bank of the Bankar Muhuririver, the two vehicles collided head-on.
The impact was so severe that Pal was thrown off his bike, landing several meters away on the road. His helmet shattered in the crash. Locals rushed to the scene and immediately took him to Belonia Hospital. Doctors confirmed that he sustained a serious head injury along with multiple bodily wounds. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, residents managed to seize the truck involved in the accident, though the driver fled the spot. Police have taken both the bike and the truck into custody and initiated an investigation.
