Veteran journalist Pradip Chakraborty passes away at 74, Agartala Press Club mourns

Agartala, 18th   May 2026:  The journalistic fraternity in Tripura is mourning the loss of veteran journalist Pradip Chakraborty, who passed away late Sunday night at his residence in Putunagar following a cardiac arrest. He was 74.

A former member of the Agartala Press Club and a journalist with the Daily Sangbad newspaper, Chakraborty was widely respected for his integrity and his commitment to highlighting the struggles of rural communities across Tripura. Colleagues remember him as a compassionate mentor and a steadfast voice for the common people.

He leaves behind his wife, a son, and a daughter, along with numerous relatives and admirers.

Today, Press Club President Pranab Sarkar and Secretary Ramakanta Dey visited his residence to pay their respects. In a statement, the Press Club expressed profound sorrow at his demise, offered prayers for the eternal peace of his soul, and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
