Agartala, 20th May 2026: A Kuroiler chicks distribution program was held today at the Ampi Agri-Sub-Division Superintendent’s office premises in Ampi Nagar, Gomati district, under the initiative of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
A large number of poor farmers from 22 Village Committees (VCs) of Ampi block gathered for the event. The program was inaugurated by Kamal Kalai, MDC of Ampi 23 ADC constituency, along with MLA Pathan Lal Jamatia, who addressed the farmers. He urged them to show sincerity in project implementation, stressing that departmental support such as chicks or pigs must be nurtured with care until maturity to ensure success. “Carelessness will generate no profit,” he cautioned.
According to reports, 71 families from 22 VCs received Kuroiler chicks free of cost under the SMAE (ATMA) scheme. Each family was provided with six healthy, big-sized chicks. The initiative, facilitated by SA Nibash Debbarma, aims to support financially weak families by creating small income sources through poultry farming.
Among the distinguished participants were Deb Sadhan Jamatia, TMP organizing secretary, social activists Birodhan Noatia and Prabir Jamatia, veterinary officer Lampra Debbarma, and several others.
The department expressed its commitment to continue such initiatives to strengthen rural livelihoods and promote self-reliance among economically weaker sections.
