Agartala, 25th May 2026: The crumbling road between No-1 Doingkati Para and No-2 Doingkati Hathai Para under Tainani ADC village, Mata Bari RD block in Udaipur, Gomati Tripura, has become a death trap for the indigenous Reang villagers. Stretching about 2 km, this vital link is now in a deplorable state, causing severe hardship for locals.
Villagers report that the road is riddled with potholes, collapsed sides, and mud heaps that make it impassable, especially during the rainy season. Vehicles cannot reach the villages, leaving residents stranded during emergencies such as accidents, medical crises, or childbirth. Students and senior citizens are particularly vulnerable, with the road turning treacherous for pedestrians in both summer and monsoon.
A senior villager lamented, “Our road has turned into a death trap. Rain has collapsed its sides, and countless potholes make it impossible for vehicles or pedestrians to move safely.”
Despite repeated appeals to block authorities and MLA Promod Reang, no maintenance work has been undertaken for decades. Every monsoon brings renewed suffering, as villagers struggle to transport patients or pregnant women to hospitals on time.
The Reang inhabitants of Tainani ADC village demand immediate intervention from the concerned authorities to repair the road and provide long-overdue relief to the affected communities.
