Agartala, 27th May 2026: In a significant administrative and security-related development, senior IPS officer Princee Rani has been appointed as the new Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier. Her posting has attracted considerable attention in bureaucratic circles, particularly as she is the wife of senior IAS officer Prashant Kumar Goyal, who recently returned to Tripura after completing central deputation.
Princee Rani, known for her experience in administration and internal security, earlier served as IG (Administration) of Tripura Police and DIG (Traffic) in the state. She also held the post of IG in the National Security Guard (NSG) and was honoured with the Medal for Meritorious Service.
Officials believe her familiarity with Tripura’s border challenges will strengthen coordination between BSF and state agencies. The BSF Tripura Frontier remains strategically important due to the state’s long international border with Bangladesh.
