Kailashahar family alleges threats, vandalism over tender business

Date:

Agartala, 27th May 2026:  Allegations of threats, vandalism and organised hooliganism linked to tender-related activities have triggered panic in Ward No. 10 of Gobindapur under the Kailashahar Municipal Council area. The incident has raised fresh concerns over the law-and-order situation in the heart of Kailashahar town.

According to a written complaint lodged at Kailashahar Police Station, miscreants allegedly targeted the residence of Maitri Dhar Adhikari late on Tuesday night. Maitri alleged that her husband, who has long been involved in online services such as GST filing and tender dropping, had been receiving threats from a group attempting to gain control over tender-related operations in the area.

She claimed that the intimidation had continued for nearly six months. The situation allegedly escalated when several masked individuals attacked their residence during the night. The accused reportedly hurled empty liquor bottles at the house and vandalised the family’s air-conditioning unit, leaving the entire household terrified.

Maitri Dhar Adhikari said the incident has created an atmosphere of fear, especially concerning the safety of her husband and children. She further alleged that although police accepted the complaint, a receipt copy had not yet been provided to her. Police officials, however, stated that the complaint would be examined and necessary action would follow.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, many of whom allege that an organised syndicate linked to tender and online service activities has been operating in the area for a long time. Residents also expressed concern over what they described as administrative silence, claiming it has emboldened anti-social elements further. The police have initiated an inquiry into the matter.
