Agartala, 27th May 2026: Tripura’s ARD, Fisheries and SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das has made a fervent appeal to the state administration, calling for stronger enforcement to curb cow slaughter across different parts of the state.
“I earnestly request the administration to take even stricter measures to put an end to cow slaughter across various parts of the state of Tripura,” Das stated.
Highlighting the cultural and religious significance of the cow within Hindu society, the Minister emphasized that the animal is revered as sacred. “In Hinduism, the cow is honored as Go-Mata—or Mother Cow—a reverence rooted in a number of profound reasons and religious beliefs,” he said.
Das urged collective responsibility in safeguarding this tradition. “Therefore, let us all join hands to ensure the protection of Go-Mata,” he added.
The Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over animal protection and religious sentiments in the region, underscoring the government’s focus on stricter monitoring and enforcement of existing laws.
