The accused has been identified as Joydeb Devnath, a resident of the Gokulnagar-Dindayal Chowmoni area. The victim belongs to a tenant family residing in the Sekerkot area under Amtali police station limits.

According to sources, the accused allegedly sent the minor girl pictures of a modern firearm via mobile phone during the late hours and threatened to shoot her dead and rape her.
