Agartala, 1ST June 2026: Assembly’s Chief Whip and MLA Kalyani Saha Roy today addressed a crucial meeting at the Municipal Conference Hall regarding the ongoing construction of the National Highway from Ichharbil to Karaillong Choumuhani. She highlighted that during the highway work stretching from Khowai through Teliamura to Agartala, several existing earthen drains have been blocked, leading to water entering homes during monsoon and intensifying public hardship.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and councillors of the Municipal Council, along with the SDM, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Executive Officer, representatives of NHIDCL and Siptech companies, PWD’s Executive Engineer, and engineers from DWS and Water Resources departments. Together, they conducted a field inspection of the affected areas.
MLA Kalyani Saha Roy stated, “We discussed in detail the immediate construction of temporary earthen drains and other necessary measures to ensure proper water drainage during the rainy season. Today’s joint inspection reflects our commitment to resolving the people’s problems quickly and effectively.”
She further assured, “We are always dedicated to safeguarding public interest and reducing the suffering of common citizens. Effective steps will be taken without delay.”
This initiative marks a coordinated effort by multiple agencies to address the drainage crisis and provide relief to residents along the Ichharbil–Karaillong Choumuhani stretch.
