BJMS demands wage revision, labour rights protection

Date:

Agartala, 9th June 2026:  Unreserved workers affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Mazdoor Sangh on Tuesday submitted a deputation to the Labour Commissioner, pressing for improved wages, social security measures, and the protection of labour rights across the state.

The delegation placed a five-point charter of demands before the Labour Department, highlighting the growing financial hardships faced by workers amid rising living costs. Among the key demands was an increase in the daily wages of unreserved workers engaged under the TFDPC, in line with the prevailing rate of inflation.

The organization also sought the implementation of revised pay scales for skilled and unskilled workers in Tripura, similar to those adopted by the Central Government. Another major demand was the inclusion of unreserved workers who have completed ten years of service under the ambit of government reservation benefits.

In addition, the workers called for a comprehensive revision of wage rates for all unreserved workers in the state and the issuance of labour cards to every worker to ensure access to welfare benefits.
