Agartala, 13th June 2026: Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder appealed to citizens to come forward and participate in voluntary blood donation drives, emphasizing that a small contribution from donors can help save precious lives.
He made the appeal while attending a blood donation camp organized by the Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited at Indranagar, Agartala, on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Majumder described voluntary blood donation as one of the most noble and selfless forms of service. He said that donating blood for a few minutes can provide critical support to cancer patients, people undergoing major surgeries, and victims of serious accidents.
The Mayor stated that such initiatives would become increasingly important in the coming days and urged people from all sections of society to actively participate in blood donation campaigns.
Appreciating the initiative of the cooperative organization, Majumder said it was commendable that the union had taken up a humanitarian activity like blood donation as part of its social responsibility instead of focusing only on commercial activities.
The programme was attended by Ratan Ghosh, Chairman of the Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited, along with other officials.
According to the organizers, 50 voluntary donors donated blood at the camp. The event concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation, and the organizers announced that similar programmes would continue in the future to promote the message of social service and humanitarian responsibility.
