Agartala, 14th June 2026: Despite continuous rainfall and the prevailing State Mourning, PRABIN BAN – 2026 was successfully organized at Uptakhali S.B. School under the initiative of Jubarajnagar R.D. Block, with enthusiastic participation from senior women citizens, students, officials, public representatives, and local residents.
Keeping in view the State Mourning following the demise of a former Minister, cultural programmes, speeches and other celebratory activities were kept suspended. The programme began with the National Anthem, followed by a one-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
The main attraction of the programme was the plantation of saplings by senior women citizens under the unique “Prabin Ban” initiative, symbolizing their contribution towards environmental protection and creating a greener future. A Prabin Ban Pledge was also administered among the participants.
Various awareness activities were conducted as part of the programme, including an art competition among students, the “Selfie with Tree” campaign, and initiatives promoting environmental conservation and sustainable living.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Chandni Chandran, District Magistrate & Collector, North Tripura, spoke about the objectives and long-term significance of Prabin Ban in building environmental awareness among communities.
The programme was coordinated under the leadership of Prasenjit Malakar, Block Development Officer, Jubarajnagar R.D. Block, whose planning and management ensured the smooth execution of the event despite adverse weather conditions.
The event was attended by Aparna Nath, Sabhadhipati, Uttar Tripura Zilla Parishad, and Aparna Sinha Debnath, Chairperson, Jubarajnagar Panchayat Samiti along with other dignitaries and public representatives.
Special appreciation was extended to Chandni Chandran, Suman Malla, District Forest Officer, North Tripura, Lalringhneta Darlong, ADM (PP), North Tripura, as well as senior citizens, teachers, students and school authorities for their active involvement.
The dedication of the officers and staff of Jubarajnagar R.D. Block played a crucial role in making the programme successful. The initiative conveyed a strong message that planting a tree today means creating a legacy for future generations.
