One held with cannabis at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala, 16th June 2026:   Amtali Police Station staff along with the Intelligence wing intercepted a youth carrying contraband near Agartala Railway Station on Tuesday afternoon.

Police sources informed that Sub-Inspector Ranabrata Ghosh, accompanied by TSR personnel, was conducting vehicle checks near the station when they noticed a youth heading towards the railway premises with two trolley bags. On suspicion, the youth was questioned jointly by the Khaki Intelligence Branch and police officials. His inconsistent replies prompted further investigation.

Subsequently, in the presence of the Sadar Executive Magistrate and a forensic team, the bags were searched, leading to the recovery of approximately 18 kilograms of dry cannabis. The accused was identified as Relax Reang, a resident of Gorji Tainani area in Gomati district. The seized contraband was confiscated following due legal procedures, and the accused was taken to the police station.

An NDPS case was registered immediately, and intensive interrogation of the accused is underway. Officer-in-Charge Inspector Paritosh Das informed the media that preliminary questioning revealed the accused intended to transport the cannabis to Guwahati by train. He further stated that police have identified several other individuals linked to the racket, though their names have not been disclosed for investigative reasons.

Inspector Das confirmed that Relax Reang will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
