KVK Dhalai intensifies ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ across district

Date:

Agartala, 16th June 2026:   Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dhalai has been actively implementing the Khet Bachao Abhiyan across Dhalai district since its launch on June 1, 2026. The month-long campaign, aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and improving soil health, is being carried out in villages and blocks throughout the district and will continue until the end of June.

So far, KVK scientists and technical staff have reached more than 25 villages under different blocks, conducting awareness programmes, farmer-scientist interactions, training sessions, and field demonstrations. These initiatives are equipping farming communities with scientific knowledge and practical skills to enhance productivity while safeguarding the environment.

The campaign emphasizes key aspects of sustainable agriculture, including balanced fertilizer use, natural farming, organic cultivation, soil health management, integrated pest and disease control, vermicomposting, crop residue management, and efficient utilization of on-farm resources. Demonstrations on organic input preparation, vermicompost production, and eco-friendly pest control techniques have encouraged farmers to reduce reliance on chemical inputs.

KVK scientists highlighted the importance of maintaining soil fertility and adopting environmentally friendly practices to ensure long-term productivity and profitability. Farmers were urged to utilize Soil Health Cards, apply fertilizers judiciously, recycle crop residues, and adopt integrated farming approaches for sustainable livelihoods.

The campaign has received an enthusiastic response, with farmers actively participating in training and demonstrations. KVK officials confirmed that the initiative will expand to more villages in the coming weeks, aiming to create widespread awareness on soil conservation, sustainable crop production, and climate-resilient agriculture.

Through this extensive outreach, KVK Dhalai is reaffirming its commitment to empowering farmers with scientific knowledge and promoting sustainable agricultural development across the district.
