Agartala, 17th June 2026: A district and sessions court in Khowai has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after convicting him of brutally murdering his wife.
The accused, identified as Parimal Jara, was found guilty by the court on Wednesday. The incident took place on June 17, 2024, in the Jara Para area of Gournagar.
According to court records and police reports, the accused first assaulted his wife, Swapna Jara, and then violently struck her head against a paved road. He later dragged her to a nearby forest, where he allegedly attacked her multiple times with a sharp weapon, resulting in her death.
In an attempt to destroy evidence, the accused reportedly brought the body back home and placed it on a bed. The following morning, local residents discovered the body and informed the police, who subsequently arrested the accused.
After a prolonged investigation and nearly two years of trial proceedings, the Additional District and Sessions Judge convicted Parimal Jara under Sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
