Simna road turns into a death trap; Residents demand urgent repairs

Date:

Agartala:, 18th June 2026 :   The sole access road for the residents of Matiya area under 1-Simna assembly Constituency has deteriorated into a perilous stretch, drawing widespread public outrage. Locals describe the road as a “death trap,” citing the absence of any initiative from the concerned department to either construct a new road or repair the existing one.

This dilapidated route remains the only lifeline for villagers commuting daily to schools, colleges, and hospitals. Its hazardous condition forces ordinary people to risk their lives while traveling. Residents warn that even fire tenders would be unable to reach the area in case of an emergency, leaving the community extremely vulnerable.

Speaking to the media personnel, villagers detailed the hardships they endure. Students struggle to attend classes, patients face delays in reaching hospitals, and daily commuters navigate dangerous potholes and collapsed sections. Despite repeated appeals, authorities have failed to act, intensifying public frustration.

The residents have now raised a collective demand: immediate reconstruction or repair of the road. They urge the administration to inspect the site and take swift measures to restore safe connectivity, stressing that continued neglect could lead to tragic consequences.
