AMC Ward 10 faces neglected road woes ahead of civic polls

Date:

Agartala, 18th June 2026:   With the Agartala Municipal Corporation election expected in November, residents of Chandrapur Madhyapara under Ward No. 10 have raised questions over the unfulfilled promises of Councilor Soma Majumdar. Locals allege that before the 2021 election, she had promised to repair their road, but no action has been taken even after nearly five years.

The road, located just 150 metres from the Assam-Agartala National Highway, has remained in a poor condition for around three decades. Residents claim they face difficulties commuting, while accidents involving bikes and scooters occur frequently. They also allege that snakes and insects are often seen on the damaged road.

Locals said that when they approach the councilor, they are told the work will begin after funds are available. However, frustration is growing as the term nears its end without any repair work. Several streetlights in the area are also reportedly non-functional.
