International Yoga Day celebrated across Tripura: CM, Ministers and BJP leaders highlight importance of healthy lifestyle

Agartala, 21st June 2026:  The 12th International Yoga Day was observed across Tripura on Sunday with various programmes, mass yoga sessions and awareness events. Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, ministers, legislators, Pradesh BJP leaders and party workers participated in different yoga programmes across the state and urged people to make yoga a part of their daily lives.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha participated in a mass yoga session organised at the Hapania International Exhibition Centre. Sharing his message on social media, he said that yoga and pranayama, the ancient traditions of India, are spreading a unique message of human well-being and good health across the world.

He highlighted that the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led to the proposal of observing International Yoga Day globally in 2014, following which June 21 has been celebrated as International Yoga Day every year since 2015 with the support of nations worldwide. He called upon people to adopt a healthy, balanced and conscious lifestyle through regular yoga practice.

Pradesh BJP President and MLA Abhishek Debroy participated in a yoga programme at the NRCC Auditorium and stated that yoga is not only a form of physical exercise but also creates harmony between body, mind and soul. He urged citizens not to restrict yoga to a single day but incorporate it into everyday life.

Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb extended greetings on International Yoga Day and said yoga is an invaluable heritage of Indian tradition that provides a healthy body, peaceful mind and positive outlook. He appealed to people to make yoga a daily habit for a healthier and empowered India.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath attended the International Yoga Day event organised by BJP Mohanpur Mandal at Tulabagan Synthetic Turf Football Ground. He said yoga is a path towards a healthy body, calm mind and balanced life.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated the Yoga Day programme at Subhash Park Kalibari premises in Khowai and encouraged people of all ages to practise yoga regularly for physical and mental well-being.

SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das participated in a district-level yoga camp at the Shaiva pilgrimage site of Unakoti, organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. He said regular yoga practice helps maintain good health and promotes physical, mental and spiritual growth.

SW&SE Minister Tinku Roy attended the ‘Yoga Mahotsav’ organised by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs at Hapania in the presence of the Chief Minister and other dignitaries. He emphasised that wider practice of yoga would help spread its philosophy and benefits globally.

Across Tripura, Pradesh BJP leaders, karyakartas, ministers and citizens participated enthusiastically in International Yoga Day programmes, promoting the message of fitness, wellness and a healthy lifestyle.
