Agartala, 24th June 2026: The dramatic blockade called by surrendered militants was withdrawn on Wednesday morning following assurances from the state administration. The Joint Action Rehabilitation Committee (JARC) and the Joint Action Committee (JAC) had earlier announced an indefinite blockade of national highways and railway routes to press for their seven-point charter of demands.
According to sources, the state government assured the organizations that necessary steps would be taken to address their concerns. In response, the leadership of both committees decided to call off the ongoing agitation. With the announcement, normalcy gradually returned across several parts of the state. Road and rail connectivity, including at Baramura, resumed, bringing relief to commuters and transport services.
The strike had caused widespread inconvenience to the public over the past few days. Following the withdrawal, markets, shops, and business establishments reopened, and daily life began to return to its usual rhythm.
Leaders of JARC and JAC stated that the decision was taken in view of the government’s positive approach and assurances. They expressed hope that the promised measures would be implemented swiftly. The restoration of normal conditions has brought relief to the general public, who voiced optimism that the remaining issues would be resolved peacefully through dialogue.
