Amarjit Pal’s body recovered from Deo river after two-day search

Agartala, 26th June 2026:    The body of 42-year-old Amarjit Pal, who went missing after being swept away by strong currents in the Deo River near Dashda Palpara under Kanchanpur subdivision of North Tripura, was recovered on Saturday afternoon after a two-day intensive search operation.

Amarjit Pal had reportedly gone missing on Thursday evening while fishing in the river. Following the incident, the administration launched a large-scale rescue operation involving the Fire Service, TSR disaster management unit, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

A 30-member NDRF team from Kumarghat carried out a specialized search operation and recovered the body at around 3:20 PM from a spot close to where he was last seen. The body was later sent to Kanchanpur Sub-divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The incident has left the family and local residents mourning. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious while approaching rivers and other water bodies.
