Agartala, 29th June 2026: The third and final day of the Global Pineapple Festival 2026 concluded on a grand and festive note, witnessing the presence of several eminent dignitaries, recognition of outstanding contributors to the pineapple sector, and enthusiastic participation from visitors.
The festival was graced by Sanjay Seth, Minister of State for Defence, Government of India; Dilip Ghosh, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Government of West Bengal; B. L. Santhosh; and Sunil Deodhar, who visited the exhibition stalls and interacted with farmers, entrepreneurs, and exhibitors.
To recognize excellence among the exhibitors, awards were presented to the best government stalls. The First Prize was jointly awarded to Tripura Forest Development & Plantation Corporation (TFDPC) and RNJ Agri-clinic and Agribusiness Pvt. Ltd. The Second Prize was awarded to NERAMAC, while the Third Prize was conferred upon the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM).
A significant highlight of the programme was the presentation of the Geographical Indication (GI) Tag Certificate for Queen Pineapple to a farmer, along with a cash award of Rs 25,000. In addition, two progressive farmers were honoured with the Best Pineapple Grower Award, each receiving a cash prize of Rs 25,000 in recognition of their outstanding contribution to pineapple cultivation.
Adding to the festive spirit, free pineapples were distributed to all visitors, enabling thousands of people to savour the unique taste and quality of Tripura’s GI-tagged Queen Pineapple.
The three-day Global Pineapple Festival successfully showcased the immense potential of Tripura’s pineapple sector through exhibitions, buyer-seller interactions, cultural programmes, and stakeholder engagement. The event served as an important platform for promoting value addition, branding, exports, and market opportunities, reaffirming Tripura’s position as a leading producer of premium-quality Queen Pineapple.
