Knife Attack in Agartala city Leaves One Critically Injured

Agartala, 29th June 2026:  A violent clash broke out over a minor dispute at Orient Chowmuhani in the state capital, involving two intoxicated individuals, resulting in one person being critically injured and another being beaten by locals.

According to reports, a middle-aged man who works as a bicycle mechanic at a shop near Orient Chowmuhani was engaged in a dispute with another intoxicated individual over an unknown issue. The situation escalated quickly when the second individual allegedly attacked the mechanic with a sharp weapon, repeatedly striking him.

Local residents intervened and managed to rescue the injured mechanic from the attacker. In response, they also caught hold of the accused and assaulted him, leaving him injured as well.

Upon receiving information, personnel from the West Police Station and the fire services rushed to the spot. Fire service teams rescued both injured individuals and transported them to GB Hospital for medical treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that the condition of the middle-aged mechanic is critical.

Police have recovered the sharp weapon used in the attack from the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.

A local resident, speaking to reporters, described the sequence of events and confirmed that the altercation stemmed from a sudden dispute between the two individuals.
