Agartala, 9th July 2026: Residents on Thursday launched an indefinite road blockade to protest the poor condition of the important road connecting Kadamtala, Ranibari, and Tarkapur, alleging prolonged administrative negligence despite repeated appeals.
According to local residents, the road has remained in a severely damaged condition for a long time, causing immense hardship for daily commuters and people living in the area. They claimed that repeated approaches to the administration failed to produce any concrete action or clear response.
The protesters also expressed frustration over what they described as unfulfilled promises from political leaders, saying that despite several assurances, no meaningful steps had been taken to repair the road.Residents further stated that an alternative route, which had been used to avoid the damaged stretch, is also no longer suitable for vehicular movement and is currently blocked. As a result, transportation to New Bazar, Dharmanagar, and Lalchhara has been severely disrupted.
To press for immediate road repairs and draw the attention of the authorities, local residents, under the banner of the BMS organization, began an indefinite strike and road blockade at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The demonstrators said the protest would continue until the administration provides a firm and satisfactory assurance regarding the repair and restoration of the road.
