Pratima Bhoumik stands by Ipsita, announces medical support at GB Hospital

Date:

Agartala, 13th July 2026:   Former Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik has assured full support for the treatment of 11-month-old Ipsita, who is currently admitted to GB Hospital following medical advice from specialists.

Speaking to the media, Bhoumik said, “For the past few days, we have all been standing by Anushree. And now, we have come to know about another child, Ipsita. Yesterday, her mother brought her here, and I have already spoken with doctors regarding her condition.”

A team of renowned doctors—including neurologists Dr. Abirlal Nath and Dr. Arpan Mitra, along with pediatrician Dr. Sanjit Debbarma—reviewed Ipsita’s medical reports. The initial findings mentioned “SMA Uncertain,” but doctors clarified that the child’s primary issue is severe malnutrition. Despite being 11 months old, Ipsita weighs only 2.5 kg, nearly the same as her birth weight of 2.6 kg.

Doctors advised hospitalization to stabilize her condition and improve her nutritional intake. Bhoumik explained that inadequate maternal nutrition during pregnancy may have contributed to the child’s health complications.

She emphasized that while financial assistance will be important, the immediate priority is accurate diagnosis and proper treatment. “Her proper treatment has started today. Whenever crowdfunding or additional support is required, we will inform you. For now, the doctors and government arrangements are taking care of her needs,” she said.

Bhoumik urged people not to raise money prematurely, assuring that any future requirements will be communicated transparently. She expressed gratitude to citizens for standing by both Ipsita and Anushree, describing them as “children of your own family.”

“This collective effort is very auspicious for our state. A mindset has developed among us that we will all stand by them. I extend my good wishes and thanks to everyone,” she concluded.
