Agartala, 15th July 2026:  In a significant step towards strengthening the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, launched the second phase of the Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan (MMNAA) on 14 July 2026 in Gomati district. The activity through specialist camps will be conducted from 14th to 31st July (14 working days).

The second phase of the programme, implemented with technical support under the ICMR-National Health Research Priority – StAr-NCD (Strengthening Ambulatory Care for Non-Communicable Diseases) project, introduces a series of evidence-based interventions aimed at improving access to quality NCD care across the State.

Key initiatives launched under the programme include the operationalization of the Mukhyamantri Lab Network through a hub-and-spoke diagnostic model to improve access to essential laboratory services, promotion of ASHA performance-based incentives to strengthen follow-up of patients with NCDs and improve disease control, and the introduction of colour-coded patient cards to enhance patient triaging, continuity of care, and referral services.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also felicitated ASHA Champions for their outstanding contribution to ensuring continuity of care and improving treatment adherence among individuals living with non-communicable diseases.

As part of the MMNAA initiative, Gomati and Dhalai districts have been identified as model districts for implementing and demonstrating strengthened NCD service delivery interventions developed under the StAr-NCD project.

The StAr-NCD Tripura team, comprising experts from AIIMS, New Delhi, and the Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC), was also felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tripura, in recognition of their technical support in strengthening and scaling up NCD services across the State.

Supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the StAr-NCD project continues to demonstrate how implementation research can effectively translate scientific evidence into policy and scalable public health interventions, contributing to stronger and more sustainable NCD care delivery in Tripura.
