TPSC announces first phase selection list for 201 Assistant Professor posts

Agartala, 21st July 2026;  The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has released the first phase recommendation list for the recruitment of Assistant Professors (Group-A Gazetted) in Government General Degree Colleges under the Higher Education Department. The recruitment process, initiated through Advertisement No. 05/2025 dated January 30, 2025, is being conducted to fill 201 permanent vacancies across 24 academic disciplines in Academic Level-10, carrying a pay scale of ₹57,700–₹1,82,400.

The first phase recommendations include candidates from several disciplines such as English, History, Human Physiology, Mathematics, Sanskrit, Environmental Science, Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Statistics, Sociology, Geography and Hindi. In Physics, Bibhabasu De secured the highest score of 93 out of 100 among the recommended candidates.

However, the Commission could not recommend candidates for several reserved category vacancies due to the non-availability of suitable applicants. A significant number of posts remain vacant in Physics, Mathematics, Human Physiology, Chemistry, Economics, Statistics and Hindi. Additionally, no eligible candidate was available for one horizontally reserved Persons with Disabilities (PH) post in Psychology.

TPSC clarified that all recommended candidates will undergo document verification by the Higher Education Department before appointment letters are issued. Recommendations for the Education discipline remain subject to the outcome of pending cases before the Tripura High Court. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the TPSC website for updates regarding subsequent phases of recruitment and appointment schedules.
