Agartala 22nd July 2026 :The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday launched a protest against the Congress party, with state BJP President Abhishek Debroy accusing Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of allegedly working against the country’s unity and development.
A massive rally was organised in Agartala under the leadership of Debroy, which saw the participation of state ministers, MLAs, and senior party leaders. The rally later turned into a demonstration outside the Tripura Congress Bhawan, where BJP leaders raised slogans against the Congress.
Addressing the gathering, Debroy alleged that attempts were being made to create instability in India and disrupt the nation’s progress. He claimed that certain forces were trying to create situations similar to neighbouring countries, but said India’s democracy was secure under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP state president further alleged that Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders were involved in conspiracies to create unrest in the country by raising issues abroad and through various organisations. He also criticised the Congress for targeting the Prime Minister and Hindu communities instead of addressing issues concerning ongoing protests and public concerns.
Debroy said the BJP and its organisational wings would continue to oppose what he described as attempts to divide the nation. He accused the Congress of promoting family-based politics during its tenure and claimed that the BJP was working towards inclusive development and delivering benefits to people across all sections of society.
The protest concluded with BJP leaders reiterating their commitment to protecting national unity and opposing what they termed as anti-development activities.
