Agartala, 25th July 2026: The political outfit “Amra Bangali” has strongly condemned what it describes as “dirty politics” surrounding Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, accusing certain parties of attempting to malign his legacy through derogatory remarks and actions.
“Amra Bangali” leader recalls that during colonial India, while Netaji sought to utilize the Second World War to liberate the nation from British rule, several mainstream leaders—including those from Congress, Communists, and Hindu Mahasabha—were accused of compromising with the British. It notes that Mahatma Gandhi’s cautious stance eventually forced Bose to resign as Congress President, leaving behind a legacy of tension with political establishments.
The leader alleges that hostility toward Netaji continues today, pointing to recent remarks by BJP leaders in West Bengal. State BJP President Shamik Bhattacharya reportedly referred to Bose’s Forward Bloc as a “gang of hooligans,” while BJP MP Ananta Maharaj allegedly mocked the Azad Hind Fauj, calling its soldiers “British troops misused by Bose.” The organization denounced these comments as insults to the freedom fighter who risked his life for India’s independence.
Further criticism was directed at the Tripura government for attempts to rename Netaji Subhas State Homoeopathic College, replacing his name with “Tripura Government Homoeopathic Medical College.” The party leader claims even Netaji’s plaques have been dismantled, branding such acts as evidence of “Netaji-phobia” among Hindutva forces.
“Amra Bangali” emphasized that Bose alone foresaw the British plan to divide India before leaving, and he opposed communal politics that fueled the partition of Bengal. The party declared that insulting Netaji is tantamount to insulting the Bengali nation, urging the government to stop erasing his contributions and to end what they call “shameful politics” around India’s liberator.
