Agartala, 27th July 2026 : A former 10,323 teacher has been arrested with a large quantity of illegal narcotic substance (Escuf) in Khowai district. The incident took place at Tant Chowmuhani area under Khowai police station on Monday.
The arrested person has been identified as Pallab Ghosh, a resident of the Tant Chowmuhani area. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at a house in the area and recovered around 43 bottles of illegal Escuf during a search operation.
The operation was carried out by a team led by Subhash Park Outpost Officer-in-Charge Ranjit Sarkar based on secret information received by plainclothes police personnel. Following the recovery, Pallab Ghosh was taken into custody and is being interrogated.
Police are investigating the source of the illegal substance and whether any other persons are involved in the racket. A case has been registered and further legal action has been initiated.
DSP of Crime Department Samir Roy, DCM Kishore Debbarma, along with other police officials, were present during the operation.
