Agartala, 28th July 2026 : The General Secretary of the Ganamukti Parishad (GMP), Radhacharan Debbarma, on Tuesday accused the Tipra Motha-led Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) administration of failing to fulfil its promises on recruitment and transparency. Addressing a press conference, he demanded the immediate appointment of candidates who had already completed interviews for various posts and sought greater accountability in the functioning of the ADC.
Debbarma recalled that during the Left Front-led ADC administration, it was claimed that around 7,000 to 8,000 posts were lying vacant, and Tipra Motha had promised to fill those vacancies after assuming power in the ADC. He also referred to the assurance given to around 1,200 ADC police personnel regarding their appointments.
He said interviews had already been conducted for posts such as engineers, nurses, animal husbandry staff, Amins and agriculture assistants across several departments. He urged the ADC administration to complete the recruitment process in a transparent and time-bound manner.
Claiming that the ADC currently has only 3,923 employees compared to nearly 6,000 during the Left Front administration in 2020, Debbarma alleged that the workforce had declined by around 1,750 without fresh recruitment. He further alleged that appointments taking place in the ADC were often irregular and demanded action against what he termed “illegal appointments.”
The GMP leader also questioned the ADC’s repeated claim of financial constraints. He alleged that despite citing a shortage of funds, the ADC had leased a house in Shillong for 30 years at a reported cost of Rs 5.5 crore, while the purpose of the property remained unknown to the public.
Debbarma further demanded the immediate release of pending pension dues for more than 400 pensioners, alleging that no significant developmental work had been undertaken despite nearly four months of the current financial year having elapsed.
He also questioned the expenditure on legal advisors, alleging that former Delhi High Court Justice Gaurav Kejriwal was being paid a monthly remuneration of Rs 1.27 lakh, while former Hyderabad High Court Justice B.P. Vyas had been engaged on a contract worth Rs 26 lakh annually. He claimed that these appointments, along with associated travel and accommodation expenses, imposed an unnecessary financial burden on the ADC despite the presence of local legal officers.
Alleging that works worth Rs 27 crore had been executed without a tender process, Debbarma called for complete transparency and accountability in the ADC’s functioning. He urged the public to join the GMP in raising their voice against what he described as arbitrary and unethical governance.
On the forthcoming Village Committee (VC) election, Debbarma said the GMP was fully prepared to contest. While expressing concerns over alleged irregularities in recent elections, he said the party continued to have faith in the democratic process and would participate without hesitation.
