Agartala, 30th July 2026 : The Office of the District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura, has successfully concluded the second batch of its Summer Internship Programme, reaffirming its commitment to promoting innovation, digital governance, and youth participation in public service through technology.
Organised in collaboration with the District Headquarters of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), West Tripura, the internship provided students from various technical institutes with practical exposure to developing technology-driven solutions for governance and public service delivery.
As part of the programme, the interns conceptualised and presented four innovative digital projects designed to improve administrative efficiency and citizen services. These included an Online Marriage Application System, Smart Citizen Assistance platform powered by Artificial Intelligence, an Appointment Booking System, and a Minutes of Meetings Management System.
The projects were developed using modern web technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML), showcasing how emerging technologies can contribute to transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric governance. The initiative also enabled participants to gain hands-on experience in applying technical knowledge to real-world administrative challenges.
The internship was conducted under the guidance of Chirag Lamba, District Informatics Officer (DIO), NIC West Tripura, and Swapan Das, District Informatics Associate (DIA), NIC West Tripura. Their mentorship helped the interns translate innovative ideas into practical digital solutions with potential applications in government administration.
The District Administration congratulated all participating interns for their dedication, creativity, and hard work. It also expressed appreciation to the NIC team for its continued support in nurturing young talent and advancing digital innovation in governance.
Officials said the initiative reflects the administration’s vision of building a technologically empowered, transparent, and citizen-centric governance system while encouraging young innovators to contribute to the state’s digital transformation.
