Agartala, 1st August 2026: Tripura BJP President and MLA Abhishek Debroy has expressed confidence that the party will return to power with a stronger mandate in the 2028 Assembly elections, while underlining the need to further consolidate its grassroots organisation across the state.
Speaking to reporters during his organisational tour of North Tripura on Saturday, Debroy said the BJP was not apprehensive about the upcoming electoral battles and was instead concentrating on strengthening its organisational network through public service and greater engagement with the people.
“Our objective is to return to power with a larger mandate in a more democratic manner. We want to make people happier, strengthen the organisation through service and take the party to the grassroots with the blessings of the people,” he said.
Debroy said the party would have to prepare for several elections before the 2028 Assembly polls, including Village Committee, Panchayat, Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation elections. Referring to the BJP’s recent electoral performance in Dharmanagar, he said the victory margin demonstrated the growing confidence of voters in the party.
At the same time, Debroy acknowledged that the organisation could have shortcomings. He said constructive criticism from the public would be welcomed and used to improve the party’s functioning.
Explaining his ongoing district visits after taking charge as state BJP president, Debroy said he was following the party’s organisational tradition of personally assessing its network across districts. He is meeting district leaders, office-bearers and elected representatives to review organisational preparedness.
In North Tripura, he said, discussions would focus on the functioning of individual mandals and future strategies. A detailed report based on the assessment will subsequently be prepared to guide the party’s organisational planning.
