Agartala, 1st August 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has called upon the people of Tripura to join hands in the fight against drug abuse and make the state a drug-free society, while urging citizens to contribute to the national vision of building a developed India by 2047.
In a message ahead of the nationwide “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan”, to be conducted from August 6 to 20, Prof. Saha said the campaign would create greater awareness about the harmful consequences of addiction and encourage people to take a collective pledge against drugs.
He said the programme is being undertaken jointly by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and the Medical Wing of Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya University. The initiative, he noted, aims to carry the message of freedom from addiction to nearly 10 crore people across the country.
Welcoming Tripura’s participation in the national campaign, the Chief Minister congratulated the Brahma Kumari family and all those involved in the initiative. He expressed hope that the programme would receive active public support and achieve its objectives.
Prof. Saha pointed out that August holds special significance in the country’s national life, with Independence Day and International Youth Day observed during the month. He said the occasion provides an opportunity for people to renew their commitment towards building a healthier society.
Appealing to citizens, he said, “Let us all take a firm pledge to keep ourselves free from the devastating scourge of drugs.”
The Chief Minister further stressed the need for collective efforts to create a healthy, safe, orderly and value-based society for future generations.
He urged every section of society to participate actively in the campaign and reaffirmed the goal of building a drug-free Tripura, linking the state’s fight against addiction with the larger national journey towards a developed India.
