Body found in pond at Baganbazar, missing man identified after four days

Agartala, 3rd August 2026: The body of a man who had reportedly been missing for the last four to five days was recovered from a pond adjacent to a tea garden at Baganbazar on Monday morning.

According to family members, they rushed to the spot after receiving information about the recovery of a body. The deceased was identified as Sanjit Tanti, son of Sachindra Tanti, a resident of Baganbazar, by his clothes. Relatives said Sanjit had been wandering from place to place before he went missing, and they had not seen him for the past several days.

A police officer said they received information in the morning that a body was floating in a pond near the tea garden. Upon reaching the spot, police recovered the body, which was in a highly decomposed state. The deceased was later identified as Sanjit Tanti.

Police said Sanjit had reportedly been missing for the last four to five days. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of death.
