Agartala, 4th August 2026 : Tripura’s Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb felicitated celebrated judoka Asmita Dey at her residence in Delhi, congratulating her on her historic achievement of becoming the first Indian female athlete to win a gold medal in judo at the Commonwealth Games.
Expressing pride in Asmita’s accomplishment, Deb said the achievement has brought immense honour not only to India but also to Tripura. He described her success as the outcome of exceptional dedication, relentless hard work, discipline and an unwavering determination to overcome challenges.
“Today, I felicitated Asmita Dey—Tripura’s accomplished daughter and the first Indian female athlete to win a gold medal in judo at the Commonwealth Games—at her residence in Delhi,” Deb said.
